Excited to enhance your video editing process? Our new feature, Rough Cut Frameworks, is designed to streamline your editing workflow using a structured approach. This guide will walk you through using the Rough Cut Frameworks feature to create cohesive and engaging video stories from your interviews and single-camera projects.

  • Remember, the framework that Eddie provides you is a suggestion. You can re-work it completely if you would like.

    • Example: You want the conflict to lead the story before the introduction. You can instruct Eddie: “I’d like to lead with the conflict about ____, then follow up with the intro”

    • You can even insert your own story frameworks that you create. Feel free to write your own, and provide that to Eddie through a prompt.

  • You can discuss with Eddie any changes or adjustments you’d like to make to the framework. Simply ask Eddie to modify the framework as needed.

Step 1: Setting Up Your Framework

  • Once you’re in Eddie, specify the desired duration for your video, which can be between 2 to 10 minutes.

  • Eddie will provide a structured framework divided into four main sections: Introduction, Conflict, Resolution, and Conclusion.

  • You can discuss with Eddie any changes or adjustments you’d like to make to the framework. Simply ask Eddie to modify the framework as needed.

Step 2: Iterative Editing

  • Begin with the Introduction section. Provide your content, and Eddie will craft the segment according to the framework.

  • Review the section, and if you’re satisfied, affirm with phrases like “This is great” or “love it.” If you want changes, tell Eddie what needs adjusting.

  • Repeat this process for the Conflict, Resolution, and Conclusion sections.

Step 3: Finalizing the Rough Cut

  • • Once all sections are approved by you, Eddie will combine them to form a complete story.

  • • Remember, after a section is confirmed, it cannot be re-edited.

Important Considerations:

  • Suitability: Best suited for “talking head” style interviews. Not recommended for podcast formats.

  • Camera Setup: Supports single-camera projects. Multiple file inputs for different speakers are allowed.

  • Content Limit: Optimal for projects with less than 2 hours of input footage.

  • Editing Limit: Once the entire framework is completed and all sections are crafted, no further edits can be made.

Conclusion:

Rough Cut Frameworks is an innovative way to ensure your edits are structured and impactful. By focusing on one segment at a time and allowing for iterative feedback, you maintain control over the narrative while efficiently moving towards a polished final product.
