Fixing Overexposure Issues in Vertical Videos Exported as Premiere XMLs

Overview:

If you’re experiencing overexposure issues when exporting vertical videos via Premiere Pro XMLs, this guide will walk you through how to resolve it. The problem often arises due to the default color space settings in Premiere Pro, which need manual adjustment.

Manual Adjustment of Sequence Settings:

• Right-click on the sequence in your project panel.

• Select “Sequence Settings” from the context menu.

• In the “Video” section, locate “Working Color Space”. By default, this is set to “Rec. 709”.

• Change “Working Color Space” to “Rec. 2100 HLG”.

• Click “OK” to apply the changes.

Important Note:

Premiere Pro’s XML format does not include a property for configuring “Working Color Space”, so this adjustment must be done manually after importing the XML.

Additional Tip:

If you continue to experience issues or if your video file is encoded in HEVC format, consider converting it to H.264, as this may work more reliably with the XML export and import process.
