Setting Up for One-Click Export to DaVinci Resolve

Step 1: Open Eddie

• Launch the Eddie desktop application on your Mac or Windows.

• Complete your video edit within Eddie. You can use any footage, but for this guide, we are using an interview as an example.

Step 2: Prepare to Export

• Once your edit is ready, click on the ‘Export’ button.

• Choose ‘Resolve’ from the export options. This action prompts you to install a necessary script.

You need a connection between Eddie and Resolve. Resolve calls this a "script". Eddie can automatically install it for you or you can install it yourself.

Here is the download link for the script.

Place the script here:

  • Mac OS X:

    • /Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve/Fusion/Scripts/Utility

  • Windows:

    • %PROGRAMDATA%\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Fusion\Scripts\Utility

Step 3: Install the Eddie Script in DaVinci Resolve

• Open DaVinci Resolve on your computer.

• Navigate to ‘Workspace’ > ‘Scripts’ > ‘Eddie’.

• This script acts like a plugin and establishes a bridge between Eddie and DaVinci Resolve.

Step 4: Export Your Edit

• After setting up the script, return to Eddie and proceed with the export.

• Click the designated export button in Eddie to send your edit directly to DaVinci Resolve.

Step 5: Verify the Import in DaVinci Resolve

• Switch to DaVinci Resolve and check the imported project.

• You should see the timeline and edit exactly as arranged in Eddie, including any titles or specific edits made.

• The file path preserved during the export ensures that your media links correctly without additional relinking required.

Benefits of One-Click Export

Efficiency: Streamlines the workflow by eliminating the need to manually handle XML files.

Accuracy: Maintains the integrity of your edit, ensuring that all elements from Eddie are precisely reflected in DaVinci Resolve.

Speed: Reduces the time between editing and final output, allowing for quicker revisions and finalization.

You need a connection between Eddie and Resolve. Resolve calls this a "script". Eddie can automatically install it for you or you can install it yourself.
