Eddie simplifies your workflow by organizing and logging B-roll efficiently before importing it into your Non-Linear Editing (NLE) software. This guide provides an overview of how Eddie organizes B-roll and how it appears in different NLEs.

Adobe Premiere Pro: Organized XML Structure

In Premiere Pro, Eddie’s XML provides a clearly structured organization for your B-roll:

  • Main Bin: {Project Name} - B-Rolls

    • All_B-roll_Sequence: A sequence containing all B-rolls laid out in chronological order.

    • Sub-Bin: All B-Rolls

      • Contains all imported B-rolls with their shortened descriptor (file name visible in Premiere).

    • Sub-Bins for Shot Types:

      • MS (Medium Shot)

      • CU (Close-Up)

      • Wide

    • Sub-Bins for Categories:

      • Category 1: Includes clips and a sequence of all clips in this category.

      • Category 2: Includes clips and a sewquence of all clips in this category.

      • Category 3: Includes clips and a sequence of all clips in this category.

  • Clip Metadata: Each clip includes an AI-generated description as a marker spanning the clip length and added to the XML’s description tag.

  • Search Capability: Use Eddie’s powerful search feature to find specific B-roll clips by keywords or descriptions, making it easy to locate the exact shots you need.

Final Cut Pro: Keyword-Based Organization

Final Cut Pro doesn’t use bins but organizes clips through keywords. When you import the FCPXML generated by Eddie:

  • Event Structure:

    • All B-rolls are placed within a single event.

    • Categories and shot types are assigned as keywords, allowing quick filtering in the browser sidebar.

      • Example: Clicking "Wide Shot" instantly displays all wide-angle clips.

  • Sequences:

    • Eddie creates sequences for "All B-rolls" and for each category, making it easy to locate and review your footage.

  • Clip Metadata:

    • Each clip includes a description marker and visible shortened descriptor.

  • Search Capability: Eddie’s keyword tagging allows you to search for specific shots directly within Final Cut Pro’s keyword browser.

DaVinci Resolve: Hierarchical Bins and Metadata

DaVinci Resolve seamlessly integrates Eddie’s XML structure, providing a hierarchical organization:

  • Bin Structure:

    • {Project Name} - B-Rolls (Main Bin)

      • Sub-Bin: All B-Rolls

        • Contains all clips with visible shortened descriptors.

      • Sub-Bins for Shot Types:

        • MS (Medium Shot)

        • CU (Close-Up)

        • Wide

      • Sub-Bins for Categories:

        • Category 1: Includes all clips in this category.

        • Category 2: Includes all clips in this category.

        • Category 3: Includes all clips in this category.

  • Metadata and Markers:

    • Each clip contains an AI-generated description marker, visible throughout its duration in the timeline.
