"Docs/Stringouts" was previously known as 'Chat & Edit' Mode.

Docs/Stringouts is a good mode for those who are creating branded stories, interview-based edits, docu-style stories, documentaries and any other situation where you have a lot of talking.

Docs/Stringouts is ideal for where you have a lot of talking (often, unscripted) and you want Eddie to find great soundbites and weave those soundbites together to form a story.

In Docs/Stringouts, you can receive:

  1. a Rough Cut that has a narrative + get B-roll placed

  2. summary edits, short edits, stringouts...all by prompting (aka ChatGPT-style edits)

  3. A-roll logs

  4. B-roll logs

Walk-through Video Demo

You import your source material (including multicams, sync clips, timelines) once and create numerous different edits from.

What are the different edit types in Docs/Stringouts mode?

  • Rough cuts | edits that have a narrative arc and are between 3 - 40 mins long and where Eddie is pulling soundbites (in a non-linear way from one or more interviewees) and crafting a story from. The (optional) backgrounder info you can add on the import screen shapes Eddie's suggested story framework.

  • Shorts/Socials | edits that are short (less than 10 mins), often meant for social media. You can also ask Eddie to create titles/description for social media posts.

  • Chat | where you want to talk to your transcript like ChatGPT. You may ask for stringouts for answers to specific questions or create short edits or find the funniest soundbites. You can also ask Eddie questions that have a text response such as to find themes or create a blog post for you on this edit.

A-roll logging and B-roll logging: how it works, how to export:

When you import media into Docs/Stringouts mode, it will automatically be logged (meaning soundbites will be identified across interviews and grouped into topics that is exportable to Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, and FCP, as well to Word and CSV.

How to export logs to your NLE: Click Export and then select A-roll logs, B-roll logs or edit to export.

B-roll logging is also available here where b-rolls are logged and grouped into logical categories. The "b-roll logs" button at the top right will let you export these logs.
