We're excited to invite you to try Eddie's latest new feature: b-roll placement!!
Prerequisites:
Download/update to the latest version of Eddie AI (Mac/PC)
An interview-based rough cut with interviews (a-rolls) and b-rolls. Think a corporate video edit that's approx. 5 - 15 mins in duration.
Multicams are supported!
Notes
B-roll placement only works for 'Rough Cut' edits in Chat & Edit mode. B-roll placement is not enabled for social media clips or 'chat to my transcript' edits or other modes of editing like Scripted or Podcast edits.
It works best with b-rolls that are static (not moving) and where there is 1 b-roll per file (eg you start and stop the camera for each b-roll shot, you do not shoot numerous b-rolls for each recording)
Eddie cannot automatically sort between A- and B-rolls
How to try b-roll placement:
Create a new Chat & Edit project in Eddie (you can use this link). You will see a section to import both a-rolls/interviews and b-roll clips, like this:
Add your footage into the respective sections: Interviews and B-rolls
Click: Import
You may see an option to choose the edit type: choose 'Rough Cut'
Eddie only places b-rolls in this edit type
Create the interview-based rough cut, chapter by chapter with Eddie. When you get to 'Final Cut', choose the option to place b-rolls
It can take an hour to place b-rolls
The b-rolls are placed on the edit! Play with it, see the options, trim it. !!! :)
Export to your video editing app (Premiere/Resolve/FCP supported).
Feedback
Your feedback is very important and we'd love to hear what you think. Email us ([email protected]).
Some questions:
how were the b-roll sequences that were created
how were the subclips of brolls
how was the placement of the broll sequences on the interview cut
was the UI clear
what should we improve?
Bugs/Issues
This feature is actively in development. We apologize in advance if there are issues or it doesn't work. Try this feature in its current beta form for non-urgent work as we don't want to stress you out. We hope you get a glimpse into the future. Thanks again for trying it.
