Welcome to Eddie, your AI assistant video editor.

The best experience is to download Eddie for Mac and PCs.

(Some/fewer features are also available on Eddie for web.)

Getting Started | Video Walk-through

1. Create a New Project & Choose a Mode

1. Click “New Project” and choose a "mode" that reflects what you want to achieve in Eddie.

"Chat & Edit" now combines four previous modes: Rough Cut, Social Media, ChatGPT, and A-roll logging modes. The benefit of this mode is now you can import once and then you can get multiple edits out of it without having to re-upload your media. A-roll logging is still available separately in the A/B-roll logging mode.

2. Import Your Videos

Once your project is created, import your videos.

To import clips, multicam clips, or timelines from your video editing application (Premiere, Resolve), install the extension for those editors. To import from FCP, drag the clips/projects/timelines from FCP to Eddie.

Import footages into project

Eddie works best with videos that have clear audio and dialogue—interviews, vlogs, or any footage with good sound quality.

Eddie can import files that are on your computer, in your video editing application (Adobe | Resolve | FCP), or in the cloud (frame.io, Google Drive, etc)

Select your files and Eddie will import, process and analyze it, ready for prompt-based video editing.

3. Prompt

Some modes like Logging analyze videos and export results and don't have the option of prompting.

Some modes, like Chat & Edit mode, do allow for prompting.

Give Eddie a prompt

Example prompts:

“Create a 1-minute cut from the interview.” Eddie will find key moments and trim it down.

“Find the part where they talk about [insert topic].” Eddie will locate and cut the soundbite.

“Cut together the discussion about the company’s future.” Let Eddie pull the relevant clips for you.

4. Export Your Edit

When you’re satisfied with your edit, click the export button under the video player.

MP4: For general use.

Vertical MP4: Ideal for Instagram, TikTok, and other social media.

Video Editing Applications: The sequence/timeline Eddie cut will be re-created in your NLE -- such as Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, and DaVinci Resolve -- to complete and polish there.

Steps to Export:

1. Click “Export” at the top-right on the header.

2. Select MP4 or choose the video editing application.

3. Eddie will notify you when the export is ready. Simple!
